Within 3 years of starting HMVF Jack Beckett was awarded the Bart Vanderveen award for 2008. The award ceremony was held in the main ring at this years War and Peace and was presided over by Pat Ware, editor of Classic Military Vehicle and prolific author.

The award came as a complete shock to the founder of HMVF, Jack Beckett who said he was speechless. He was brought into the ring under the believe that his friend and fellow team member of HMVF Mark Barnes was going to get a public thank you by the War & Peace organiser for his work on the press team. This is an outstanding award for someone who has been in the hobby for less than three years but proves that times are changing as more and more people are turning to the internet as opposed to the more traditional clubs and meetings. Without doubt HMVF is now recognised as one of the corner stones of the military vehicle hobby as the site continues to offer update news, reviews and interviews. The forum is the heart of HMVF and it is a place where you can get advice and guidance for free in all aspects of the hobby.
